Import / Export

The requirements for importing works of art into different countries around the world vary enormously and it is important to establish clearly what is required in order to avoid unnecessary cost and problems for the future. Areas that affect import include the age of the work of art and the reason for import. In the case of the European Union, VAT is a complex area that needs to be approached with caution.

As far as export is concerned, again there are vastly differing requirements for different countries, even within the European Union. It is important to be aware of where the problems are. Expert handling of an export can make a significant difference to the end result.

Shipping and Storage

We are able to recommend specialist shippers and work with them in shipping works of art whether nationally or internationally. We are able to arrange secure storage for the short or long term.

Conservation

Specialist conservation work is preferred for the majority of works of art. It is a question of knowing the right specialist for the job, and amongst the many restorers and conservators which are to be preferred. Cost is also an issue but it must be remembered that the point of conservation work is to maintain the value of the work of art.

We are able to recommend the correct specialist for a particular project and to work with that specialist, if required.
