SALES
 The Pouncey Collection

Timothy Sammons Fine Art Agents were instructed by the Executors of the Estate of the late Myril Pouncey to advise on the collection of Old master drawings and paintings. The solution for the estate was a mixture of offers in lieu of tax, private sales and auction as well as the exemption of certain items.

Timothy Sammons Fine Art Agents handled all aspects of this process, from selecting which works of art should be sold publicly and privately; choosing the date and venue of the auction sale, apponting an auctioneer (Sotheby's) working with them on all aspects of the pre-sale marketing of the pictures including cataloguing and exhibitions in Paris, London and New York. Timothy Sammons Fine Art Agents also negotiated all private sales with the chosen museums and galleries and dealt with all tax issues which arose from the sales of the works of art.

Two pictures were accepted in lieu of tax. The Liberale da Verona, 'Pieta', oil on panel, allocated to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge at £1.5million and the Ludovico Carraci, Marriage of the Virgin, oil copper, allocated to the National Gallery, London at £850,000.
